Trust Tairāwhiti is looking for a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the Trust’s financial management, investment strategy, and risk oversight.
This is a significant opportunity to influence, activate and enable regional economic development and drive strategic regional assets to produce outcomes and wellbeing for whanau, communities and businesses across Tairāwhiti.
This senior leadership role ensures the financial sustainability of Trust Tairāwhiti and its subsidiaries. It requires strategic financial and operational excellence to support the Trust’s vision of enabling our people, whānau, and communities to thrive.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the strategic financial management of Trust Tairāwhiti and its subsidiary entities. You will lead a high-performing team and provide strategic and high-level financial advice to our Trustees, Chief Executive, and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that financial implications and resource allocation decisions align with the Trust’s long-term objectives and drive sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a financial, investment, and IT strategy to support the Trust’s strategic plan and priorities.
- Leading the financial management of the Trust and its subsidiaries, ensuring robust reporting, compliance, and sustainability.
- Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO, Trustees, and Audit & Risk Committee.
- Providing expert financial advice on investment opportunities.
- Overseeing the Trust’s risk management framework, ensuring effective mitigation of financial, operational, and compliance risks.
- Leading and mentoring high-performing finance, operations, and communications teams to deliver on strategic goals.
About You
We are looking for an experienced finance leader with:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification – essential.
- 7–10+ years’ experience in financial and management accounting, reporting, and strategic financial leadership.
- Strong investment and commercial experience, with the ability to assess financial sustainability and growth opportunities.
- Proven ability to connect strategy, planning, and performance information to support effective decision-making.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
