The Trust is nearly one week into the 2025 Tairāwhiti Wellbeing Survey (TWS) campaign, and our team is out in the community helping people share their voices.

The campaign kicked off with an impressive response rate at the Poverty Bay A&P Show, where hundreds of people completed the survey over the two-day event. Our focus is now on getting out and about to host activations across Tairāwhiti to make it easier for people to take the survey.

The first activation was held at Matapuna Training Centre, where more than 30 rangatahi completed the survey and shared their views on what matters most to them and their whānau. Upcoming activations are planned at Gisborne Girls’ High School, Gisborne Boys’ High School, Taitech and Tolaga Bay Innovation.

"Early insights show that about 30 per cent of respondents so far are aged between 15 and 24 years, and 20 per cent are business owners or self-employed," says the Trust's Information and Data lead, Malcolm Mersham.

Early activations are an opportunity to connect with different communities within Tairāwhiti, gather valuable insights and strengthen the evidence base to guide future decisions for our region.
