The Trust Tairāwhiti 2025/26 Annual Report is now available online, ahead of the organisation’s Annual General Meeting on 13 August.
It reports on the Trust’s activities over the financial year across its key roles as community trust, Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO), and Economic Development Agency (EDA).
During the year, the Trust distributed more than $8.8m to nearly 100 community groups and organisations. The annual report profiles several community funding recipients, including the Women’s Native Tree Project Trust, SuperGrans Tairāwhiti, Slash for Cash and Ūawa Laundromat. All investments are guided by the Trust’s wellbeing framework, He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora.
It also covers major community facility investments, including the completion of Te Wharewaka o Mareikura, phase-one upgrades at Victoria Domain, and continued progress on redevelopments at Rugby Park and Whakarua Park.
One of the year’s most significant investments was the Marae Solar Project, which equipped 22 local marae with solar energy systems to strengthen emergency preparedness and energy resilience.
As the RTO and EDA, supporting local businesses remained a priority through challenging economic conditions. Our business growth team supported hundreds of businesses and the tourism sector in accessing funding, mentoring and specialist expertise.
The release of the Trust’s first State of Wellbeing Report is also featured, which draws on four years of Tairāwhiti Wellbeing Survey data to provide a long-term picture of wellbeing across the region. Survey insights from 2022 to 2025 are available at tairawhitidata.nz.
