Cruise tourism presents an opportunity for Tairāwhiti to boost its local economy and raise its profile as a global tourism destination.

Cruise ships can bring thousands of visitors to the region each year, who can spend money on goods and services, create jobs, and support local businesses. The Trust supports tours and logistics on the ground to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Tairāwhiti Cruise Development Pathway

Cruise tourism is one of the fastest-growing areas of global travel. The Tairāwhiti Cruise Development Pathway sets out a long-term, sustainable approach to growing cruise visitation, developed in partnership with Gisborne District Council, Eastland Port and industry partners. The pathway focuses on delivering economic benefits while supporting the wellbeing of the region and its communities.
