We are seeking an experienced manager to play a central role in coordinating and progressing strategic investment, sector development, and key economic initiatives across the region.
This is a pivotal role within our Economic Development team, focused on collaborating with regional partners to progress projects that will support an innovative, diverse and resilient economy. Your work will help create well-paid jobs, strengthen communities, and enable sustainable economic growth for future generations.
The role acts as a central coordination point for economic development activity, working across partners and sectors to maintain momentum, visibility, and delivery of the Tairāwhiti Economic Plan.
Key focus areas include coordinating delivery of the Tairāwhiti Economic Plan (TEP), managing the Trust’s feasibility fund, supporting sector development, and progressing strategic investment opportunities aligned to our wellbeing framework, He Rangitapu, He Tohu Ora.
What you will be doing
- Coordinating and driving delivery across the TEP, maintaining momentum and alignment across partners and initiatives.
- Identifying and progressing strategic investment opportunities aligned to regional priorities.
- Leading the feasibility fund as a strategic pipeline tool to test opportunities and inform investment decisions.
- Working collaboratively across the Economic Development team to deliver sector development and key economic initiatives.
- Strengthening the Trust’s role and profile as the region’s Economic Development Agency.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with iwi, hapū, whānau, industry groups, government agencies, Council, and the wider business community.
What you will bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification in investment analysis and economic development, or equivalent experience.
- At least five years’ experience in a commercial or investment management role.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen and experience in progressing investment opportunities.
- A sound understanding of regional New Zealand’s economic context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational capability, initiative and the ability to deliver outcomes in a complex environment.
- A track record of building credible, trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
